Professor Cheng went to University of California in America as a visiting scholar in 2008. She is mainly engaged in the teaching and research work of textile materials. Her research direction is focused on the structure and performance of textile materials and the application of computer technology to textile. In recent years, she has undertaken and participated in dozens of projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tianjin Municipal Natural Science Foundation, Tianjin Municipal Scientific and Technological Development Foundation for Institutions of Higher Learning and scientific and technological projects entrusted by companies. Her research achievements have been implemented by companies and have achieved great economic effects. She has won the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award once and the first prize of Tianjin Municipal Teaching Achievement Award twice and has published more than 30 academic papers, of which 10 have been collected by EI.
