• Sino-Foreign Education

Over the years, under the support and leadership of our Party committee and school leaders, through the joint efforts of all the teachers and students, Tiangong University has responded positively to “the Belt and Road Initiative” and the “double first class” first-class discipline construction. Consequently, the international exchanges and cooperation have been developing rapidly and achieved gratifying results. Internationalization has become one of the most important goals for school’s development.

TGU actively promotes inter-school exchanges and cooperation, and has established long-term friendly cooperative relations with more than 90 universities and scientific research institutions among 30 countries and regions such as Germany, Britain, the United States, Japan, South Korea and Australia. On the basis of various funding projects home and abroad, like China Scholarship Council, the Erasmus Plan of the European Union, the Cherry Blossom Plan of Japan, as well as mutual tuition exemption, TGU carries various and multi-level student exchange projects with partner universities, such as semester/year exchange, double degrees, summer (winter) camps. Every year, more than 300 undergraduates and postgraduates have been selected to study abroad, making considerable progress and development in sending students’ quality and quantity. At the same time, TGU is committed to training international talent. There are three Sino-foreign cooperative school-running projects, separately with University of Wollongong in Australia and Bowling Green State University in the United States. Moreover, the university participates in building one overseas school-running project, “Tianjin University of Technology” in Punjab, Pakistan, and one overseas Confucius Institute with Bobo-Dioulasso Polytechnic University in Burkina Faso, Africa.

TGU pays high attention to construct the internationalization of teaching staff. Every year, it sends key teachers to Harvard University, Oxford University and other world-renowned universities for research and academic exchanges, and conducts nearly 300 official visits a year to go abroad for educational seminars, academic exchanges, scientific and technological cooperation as well as international conferences. At the same time, TGU strengthens the introduction of talents and international academic exchanges and cooperation through various plans and projects at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. In 2016, it was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology to establish the International Joint Research Center for Separation Membrane Science and Technology, and in 2018, to establish “111 Intelligence Initiation Plan” (the base for innovation and intelligence introduction in the subject of separation membranes) under the support of Ministry of Education and the State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs. Every year, more than 10 intelligence introduction projects have been approved, attracting over 30 foreign experts and professors to work in TGU, and receiving more than 250 foreign academicians, experts and well-known scholars from all over the world.

TGU adheres to the internationalization strategy, actively promotes the internationalization of teachers, studies and trains internationalization. We will actively seek to cooperate with internationally famous universities and scientific research institutions, developing long-term and stable partnerships, and build a cooperation framework for resource sharing and complementary advantages at home and abroad. As the window of TGU’s foreign exchange, the International Office will make great efforts to promote its internationalization and make contributions to the construction of “double first class” process of TGU.
