TJPU is a full time university co-funded and co-governed by Ministry of Education and Tianjin municipality, Tianjin municipality is the main funder and governor. The university achieved the excellent rank in first round of Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation conducted by M.O.E.. TJPU has a long history, its first department was established in 1912, at present the university has developed as an multidiscipline polytechnic university with its main majors in engineering, its engineering, science, humanities, management, economics, law, art is still in multidisciplinary coordinated evolving.
New campus of TJPU was built on an areas of 460 acres, it has 16 schools with complete and comprehensive education system for fostering Bachelor , Master and PHD students, it has 28000 full time students, the university has 3 post doctorate stations, 16 programmes to grant doctoral degree, 70 programmes to grant master degree, 60 programmes to grant bachelor degree. It has national key disciplines, the sole ministry and province co-funded laboratory among municipal funded universities in Tianjin, it has Tianjin municipal key disciplines, key laboratory, engineering center and research base, some disciplines rank on top list in Tianjin and the whole country.
TJPU has remarkable strength in science and research, the evaluation of Combination of Education, Research and Industry is on the top list among domestic universities,the university was awarded 11 national science and technology awards in recent 9 years, its scientific and research achievement was applied in “Shenzhou” serious of space ships,“Chang Er”moon exploration engineering, water treatment technology, new material exploration etc. , nation’s strategic innovation industry and nation defense science and technology industry.
TJPU set its new goals in its 13th Five Years plan towards openness to outside and globalization for the welfare of Tianjin, China and the world, it has established international collaborations with many educational institutions in Europe, America , Australia and Asia,there will be more international joint programmes, student exchange, teacher training and joint scientific research programmes to be established in the coming years.
